The program created and conducted by The Jubilee Chorus began with an introduction of the ministry and a call to worship by the conductor Elizabeth Swanson. A call to worship was followed by the scripture reading when TJC member Muriel Same day read Psalm 121 followed by the song “Lift thine eyes” sang A Capella.
The song was followed with the readings by Janelle Simmons and Alvin Feemster, who read the text from “Requiem” which allowed the attendants to understand the story of the song followed after the readings.
In the middle of the service, Chanel Rodriguez, a singer of The Jubilee Chorus stepped out to share her personal testimony which was followed by her solo performance of the song “His eye is on the sparrow.”
The service then progressed with the reading by Veronica Norton, and words to close the service time delivered by Janelle Simmons.
The service concluded with the song “Total Praise,” followed by the anchor song, a well-known hymn “Amazing Grace.”
The manager of TJCH, Mihee Gwon said, “It was the first event of the Jubilee Chorus and I felt that everyone who attended the service really enjoyed it. One attendee who learned that the ministry started to operate in September and was able to perform in October expressed his amazement over the work of the chorus and shared that every songs was very beautiful especially, the “Total Praise.” The attendee was interested in the work of the chorus and expressed to make good connection with the ministry.
After its first successful event, the conductor of The Jubilee Chorus, Elizabeth Swanson complimented the chorus’ members and shared her excitement over the blessing that the ministry brought to others. Swanson added that “James Macklin, the director of the volunteer programs at the Bowery Mission couldn't have been more pleased and has invited the ministry to participate in a significant annual event at the Bowery Mission in February.”
