Jubilee Chorus New York (JCNY) had an open house on August 19th at 7:00 p.m. on 22nd floor of Nyack College. This first meeting of the season, with new chorus members, opened with a warm welcome from Dr. Elizabeth Swanson.

Dr. Swanson first introduced herself and background on how she became the artistic director/conductor of Jubilee Chorus, followed by sharing grade from JCNY last season. Swanson also introduced the manager, Mihee Gwon, and witnessed that God holds on to JCNY strongly and the ministers devote for the ministry with all their heart.

Gwon introduced herself and shared her hope for the Jubilee Chorus to become a big vessel that can be used to hold Christian musicians worldwide and all those who wish to praise God. She also shared that she wishes an amazing work of God - that people will use their talent to comfort the weary, strengthen the weak, and healing the heart - would be with them that Dr. Swanson shared, "The open house was a wonderful success! God is faithful, and He brought the right people together to kick off the Jubilee Chorus 2014-15 season.

Information about the coming season was shared at the open house, and the ensemble is excited to bring the light of hope and the Word of God to New Yorkers this fall---particularly, homeless shelters,The Bowery Mission and NYC Rescue Mission, as well as churches in the NYC-area, including our Lessons and Carol Service with Nyack College School of Music (NYC) at Calvary Baptist Church in Midtown (December). These events are free and open to the public -- additional information can be found via the online calendar.

Additionally, the Jubilee Chorus is particularly thankful to Nyack College School of Music for providing us with a new rehearsal space at the college's brand new city campus located in lower Manhattan (2 Washington Street, 22nd floor.) The beautiful rehearsal room has a grand piano, state-of-the-art technology, and provides us with unobstructed views of the One World Trade Center tower, located just to the north of the campus building. While the Jubilee Chorus is a NYC-based volunteer choir open to all by audition, there is a very strong Nyack College alumni presence in the ensemble.
The Jubilee Chorus has faith that God will continue to bring His servants to do His work. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to learn more about our ministry."

After the sharing of the schedule, there was a time for the new 13 singers to introduce themselves. They confessed that it was God who led them to this opportunity to sing at Jubilee Chorus and their expectation for their mission here.

Dr. Swanson also gave a presentation and explained to the new singers the staff of 2013-14 season. She also shared testimony and vision. She also hoped to strengthen the volunteer staff. After the presentation, they had a time to sing together. The new singers, along with Dr. Swanson, prayed, confessing their love for God and asking for the blessing.
